Sharjah Light Festival 2019: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The Sharjah Light Festival is the most popular event organized by the SCTDA. It features unique shows that display the emirate’s lively traditional and artistic identity, using the most advanced innovations for color and light displays, in addition to great works of illuminations by globally famous artists. Such works are featured across the emirate’s key sites. In order to preserve the environment and sustain natural resources, the emirate is always keen on using technologies with minimal energy consumption. For the ninth consecutive year, 19 sites across Sharjah were illuminated for 11 consecutive nights from 6 to 16 February. The festival welcomed over one million visitors, a quarter of a million visitors more than last year. On social media platforms, the number of interactions and access to the festival’s followers jumped impressively from four million in 2018 to nine million in 2019. 53 53 Annual Report - 2019 The Story of a Year
